Overview

The counselor education program is pleased to announce a tenure-track assistant/associate professor position for our CACREP-accredited MA (clinical mental health counseling and school counseling emphasis) and PhD training programs. Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate courses, providing advising and dissertation direction, supervising student research, and developing an active research program including grant writing and publication in peer-reviewed journals. Additional teaching assignments may be made based on professional and academic background and the needs of the Division. Faculty members are expected to make contributions in teaching, research, and service.

Requires an earned doctorate, or completed by August 22, 2018, in Counseling. Preference will be given to those graduating from CACREP-accredited programs, eligible for licensure as a licensed professional counselor in South Dakota, established experience as a clinical mental health counselor, and eligible to be a Licensed Addiction Counselor in South Dakota. Applicant must show evidence of accomplishments or strong potential for success in teaching, research, publications, grant writing, and professional service.

This is a nine-month, tenure track position.

The University of South Dakota is a comprehensive; liberal arts based state institution with an enrollment over 10,000 students. Basic and professional programs are available in the School of Education, School of Business, School of Law, School of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, College of Fine Arts, and the College of Arts and Sciences.

The School of Education is a research- and practitioner-based unit with eight specialty centers and institutes and four divisions: Counseling and Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, and Kinesiology and Sport Management. The SOE programs lead to careers as educators, counselors, psychologist, administrators, researchers, educational and health-related specialists, and sport related specialists.
