Overview

Rockford University invites candidates for a tenure track position in the Early Childhood Education Program. The successful candidate with teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in the program including evening courses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Early Childhood Education Program goals and standards that provide the basis for program planning, implementation, evaluation and support
  • Teach a full-time load of classes in the Early Childhood Education Program
  • Assist in maintaining and coordinating program approval through ISBE and Gateways, as well as academic accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission
  • Work as part of the Education Department with the guidance of the Chair to coordinate and manage curriculum, courses, texts, and standard assessments
  • Coordinate instruction and clinical experiences in accordance with the Early Childhood Education standards as well as the Gateways Early Care and Education and Infant/Toddler credential standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities in working with faculty, staff, and students with diverse backgrounds including academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, and disabilities

Education and Experience:

  • Five years of experience in a variety of early childhood settings
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred
  • Early childhood education teaching credentials required
  • Additional PK and/or early elementary special education teaching credential preferred
  • College-level teaching experience preferred

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstration of teaching effectiveness
  • Understanding of diverse populations
  • Evidence of scholarly abilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to travel to off-campus sites for supervision of teacher candidates
