Overview

The Department of Educational Counseling and Leadership at Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor in Counseling. This opening is for the 2018-2019 academic year and is a tenure-track appointment.

The candidate would be expected to: teach 9 credits per semester (12 credits with a 3 credit course load reduction); serve on University committees; maintain scholarly currency; advise students (including student counseling association); coordinate and administer Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE) testing; supervise internships.

Required Degree, License or Certifications:
Doctoral degree, ABD candidates may be considered with degree completion expected by date of employment

Other Requirements:

  • Earned doctorate in counselor education and supervision preferably from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • Specialized experience in either school counseling or student affairs/college counseling. Specialized experience in student affairs and a foundational understanding of the K-16 educational environment.
  • Successful record of teaching graduate courses and supervising practicum/internship experiences. Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations. Evidence of a research agenda or a clear potential for scholarly activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Professional experience in either school counseling or student affairs/college counseling. Graduation from and/or experience teaching in a CACREP-accredited graduate program. Expected understanding of multicultural and social justice competencies in professional counseling.
