The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and advise students in the PK-4 certification program. The candidate will be expected to engage in scholarship and provide service to the department, college, and professional discipline. Applicants should possess an earned doctorate in early childhood education, elementary education, or a closely related field; teaching experience in higher education; and knowledge of national standards and trends in early childhood instruction.
Job DutiesThe successful candidate will be expected to teach early childhood elementary courses; teach special education foundation courses; supervise student teachers; provide developmental advising; assist with state certification requirements; take an active role in our lab school program with U-GRO Early Learning Centre; and establish a clear research agenda, with emphasis upon fostering undergraduate research opportunities.
Required QualificationsThe candidate will have 1) an earned doctorate from an accredited university in early childhood education, elementary education, or a related field; 2) early childhood teaching experience; 3) a strong background in developmental theory/research and inclusion that supports access to the general education curriculum and experience for diverse learners; 4) proficiency in teaching with technology; 5) experience teaching in higher education; and 6) excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred QualificationsExperience and expertise in special education is highly desirable.
