Overview

The Division of Education at Thomas University is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Education in Reading/Literacy Education to teach and advise students in our certification, Master of Education, and Education Specialist programs beginning Fall Semester 2018. In addition to teaching and advising responsibilities, full-time faculty members also serve on departmental and university committees, participate in community partnerships, collaborate on research and grant opportunities, and participate in professional organizations and conferences.

A doctorate in education and proven excellence in teaching is required. Successful applicants will have three years’ experience teaching grades PK-12 and experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: ESOL, Special Education, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics. Candidates must be adept in the use of instructional technology and have experience in synchronous online course development and instruction. College/university teaching experience is preferred. Successful candidates will also have experience with the supervision of candidates in practicum and internships, edTPA, Georgia Program Standards, and the development of school-university partnerships.

The Division of Education offers its initial certification, Master of Education, and Education Specialist programs on the main campus in Thomasville and at satellite locations across Georgia. Our programs combine classroom and field-based experiences that promote the acquisition of essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to teach successfully in a variety of educational settings. The Division of Education is accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). Thomas University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
