Viterbo University’s College of Education, Science, and Mathematics invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in Education.

The teaching load is 12 credits each semester. The successful candidate will be able to teach in multiple high need areas in the program including Assessment and Correction of Literacy Problems, Foundations of Literacy, Curriculum and Methods for Math. Additional courses may include Social Studies Methods, Educational Psychology, and supervising student teachers. Methods classes are completed cooperatively with area schools using a “Professional School Model” (PDS) where coursework and application takes place in the pK-8 school setting. Ability to work collaboratively with area schools is critical for the PDS model’s success. The person in this position serves as the literacy expert for the department and leads student preparation for the Foundations of Reading Test (FoRT). The successful candidate will participate in curriculum development and assessment and other service work in the department, as well as participate in college and university meetings and events.

Qualifications: A master’s degree in education required. Doctorate degree required for a tenure track position. Prior K-8 teaching experience required; Foundations of Reading Test knowledge and previous higher education teaching experience is preferred.

Rank and Salary: This is a nine-month, academic year appointment beginning August 2017.
