Full time, tenure track faculty, to teach two levels of Reading. The ideal candidate will bring innovative and research-based strategies to help students become better readers and thinkers by taking ownership of their learning. The incumbent will expose students to the principles of critical reading and thinking and teach them to analyze text to identify facts, fallacies, claims, premises, and arguments.
The scope of the two-level course is to introduce intermediate college-level readings to build requisite comprehension and study skills to succeed in college level courses. The successful candidate will, after a period of acclimation, take on responsibility as the Coordinator of Reading. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues and coordinators from English, Foundations Writing, and ESL to potentially revise curriculum for the benefit of our student population.
Master’s degree required in a closely related discipline.
Minimum of three years successful college teaching experience in reading, developmental education, or English.
A passion for effective teaching, student advising, collegial involvement and the comprehensive community college mission, all demonstrated through experience.
