Overview

The YSU Department of Counseling, Special Education and School Psychology is seeking a candidate for an Assistant Professor position to teach Early Childhood/Early Childhood Intervention Services/Special Education program courses. The successful candidate will be expected to (1) teach undergraduate courses offered in collaboration by the Special Education and Teacher Education programs, and engage in (2) scholarship, (3) professional and university service, and (4) program development. The candidate should have an ability and willingness to develop, implement, and coordinate clinical experiences; and develop and teach online courses and or programs. The successful candidate will be cross-appointed to the Department of Teacher Education.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education-related field.
  • Teaching license in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, or early childhood special education.
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience in K-12 schools.
  • Experience working with children with an IEP (individualized education plan).

Desired Qualifications

Desired qualifications include:

  1. experience providing special education interventions to elementary students who have a wide range of exceptional learning needs;
  2. experience teaching special education and/or early childhood courses at a university level;
  3. understanding of / interest in special education and early childhood education program approval requirements.
