Overview

Responsibilities: Coordinates the School Counseling Program; teaches across multiple areas with a focus on school/educational counseling; contributes to the program, department, university, and surrounding community; advises students; assists with field practica; collaborates with colleagues; strong commitment to understanding diversity and cultural proficiency in the field; works some evening and weekends. This position is tenure track.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP accredited program or hold a doctoral degree in counselor education or a related field (i.e., Counseling Psychology, School Counseling Mental Health Counseling, etc.) and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program at a University (preferably with CACREP accreditation) for a minimum of one full academic year. Minimum four (4) years part or full-time experience in a school/educational setting and/or in higher education required. Candidates must be licensed and/or licensed eligible and must be a certified school counselor in the state of Maryland. Experience teaching courses in the specialty area and an active program of teaching and research in school and educational is highly desirable, along with a strong interest in teaching related courses; demonstrated commitment to graduate education; proven with a strong interest in teaching related courses; demonstrated commitment to graduate education; proven record of potential effectiveness in teaching, scholarly research, and community outreach; coordination of school counseling programs.
