Overview

The Tennessee Wesleyan University Department of Education is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a full-time tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in the teacher education program. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Specific requirements for the position include:

  • A terminal degree in education (EdD or PhD)
  • Eighteen hours of course work at the master’s level or above in Early Childhood Education, Special Education
  • Knowledgeable of the Tennessee Educator Preparation Policy 5.504
  • Knowledgeable of edTPA portfolio requirements
  • Experience with TEAM teacher evaluation system
  • Evidence of effective teaching
  • Evidence of integration of technology into instruction
  • Public school teaching experience
  • Demonstrated skills in program development and knowledge of Tennessee Board of Examiner and CAEP accreditation
  • Serve on university committees
  • Be supportive of the university and the department of education

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach Early Childhood Education, and/or Special Education
  • Prepare teacher candidates with the TEAM evaluation system
  • Prepare teacher candidates for edTPA assessment
  • Advise students
  • Supervise student teachers
  • Participate in year-round open house and new student orientation
  • Develop strong and positive partnerships with local schools
  • Assist in the development of the TN State Board of Examiners review following CAEP guidelines
