Job Description Summary
The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling at Auburn University is seeking to fill an opening for a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor in Counselor Education. The Clinical Assistant Professor’s position is a one-year contract that may be renewed annually, but not to exceed the period of funding from the contract, grant, generated income, or other designated funds. The candidate appointed in the clinical title series will have annual, written employment contracts.
This individual will serve as a member of the core faculty in the CACREP-accredited Counselor Education programs. She/he will teach masters-level courses, supervise practicum and internship and be involved in practicum and internship placement.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program (by start date). We seek candidates with a strong track record of teaching and supervision in counseling. The area of program emphasis is Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The candidate must be able to teach core courses at the Masters level in Counselor Education, with an emphasis on practice courses including: Introduction to Counseling Practice, Advanced Counseling Practice, Counseling Theories, Crisis Intervention, Practicum, and Internship. Candidates must also be able to work cooperatively in a department with diverse programs, specifically programs in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, School Counseling, and Counseling Psychology. The individual must be committed to high-quality instruction and be able to mentor students. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements in the U.S. at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue to work legally for the proposed term of employment.
A desired qualification is that the candidate be license-eligible as a counselor in the state of Alabama. Training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is highly desired with comparable counseling, teaching, and clinical experience.
