Overview

Samford University’s Orlean Beeson School of Education invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to submit applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Educational Leadership at the assistant, associate or full professor level. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses each academic semester, including courses related to research studies. Responsibilities may include evening or weekend courses delivered on campus, out of town and online. The faculty member is expected to assist students with graduate research, and to work closely with dissertation committee chairs and doctoral students with research design and review. The faculty member is expected to participate fully in scholarship and service to the profession, school, university and community. Collaboration with K-12 schools is expected.

Qualified candidates will be graduates of an accredited school with an earned doctoral degree in educational research or a related field. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal relationship skills, organizational skills and the ability to provide educational leadership in research studies. Candidates are expected to be experienced researchers with a strong record of research and publication. Prior teaching experience in the field of educational research and successful performance in the faculty role is preferred, including teaching graduate students. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students and colleagues is expected. Candidates must be willing to support the Christian mission of Samford University and Orlean Beeson School of Education.

Academic rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications, experience, previous academic teaching experience, and scholarship accomplishments.

Orlean Beeson School of Education includes four departments, including educational leadership. The Department of Educational Leadership has four programs, including master’s, educational specialist and doctoral.
