Overview

The Curry School of Education, Department of Leadership, Foundations and Policy at the University of Virginia, invites applications for multiple Tenure/Tenure Track positions in the area of quantitative methods. Areas of quantitative expertise might include latent variable modeling, multilevel modeling, Bayesian modeling, contemporary longitudinal modeling, psychometrics or other areas of advanced multivariate methods. Duties of the position include teaching and mentoring, scholarly contributions and conducting programmatic research, service, and academic leadership. Opportunities exist for joint appointments in research centers, other program areas, and across schools and are encouraged due to our focus on collaborative and interdisciplinary research. Appointments begin on August 25, 2019.

A doctoral degree with an emphasis in quantitative methods, educational research and evaluation, statistics, psychometrics or related field is required prior to the start date of this position. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and skills relative to the design and logic of research and appropriate application of statistical methods and designs to a range of contemporary research questions and application in education, social, and behavioral science. Successful applicants must have a potential for or a demonstrated record of scholarship in top-tier journals and a record of securing external funding through roles as either a Principal Investigator or a senior collaborator (e.g., co-PI, methodologist), appropriate to the rank of the position for which they are applying. A strong interest and experience in teaching and advising undergraduate and/or graduate students in the development and use of quantitative methods and applications to evaluation, policy, and research design from introductory through advanced levels are required. Candidates must demonstrate an explicit commitment to, and accomplishments in, teaching, research, and/or service that contribute to advancing understanding and outcomes for underrepresented groups. Experience in developing and leading collaborative research initiatives is desirable.

For a tenured appointment, candidates must have an active research program that contributes to the advancement of quantitative methods and/or their applications to a substantive area, as well as a demonstrated capacity for leadership and active involvement in securing external research funding.
