New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a Tenured Endowed Professor position to begin in September 2018. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Peter L. Agnew Foundation endowed the Professor of Education Chair to honor Dr. Peter Agnew, a renowned business education professor at NYU, who prepared the elite for business leadership from the 1920s through the 1950s. The foundation has supported NYU and the Steinhardt School for more than 25 years, contributing to a business education fund, scholarships, and a memorial lecture, all in Agnew’s name. This is an open search for a senior scholar with national and international stature and a deep commitment to educational research, practice and policy. Attention to critical current issues in education is encouraged, such as research on inequality, race, immigration, gender or sexuality in educational systems, broadly defined. In addition, a focus on both the United States and global contexts, and a deep understanding of our digital and media environments, are welcomed.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct research, teach and advise undergraduate and graduate students, and provide a wide range of services to the University.

QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in educational leadership, policy studies, social sciences, or a topical focus on arts, communication, health or nutrition in educational research, broadly defined; an extensive publication record in peer-reviewed outlets; a nationally and internationally recognized research program; and a record of success in obtaining research grants. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills as an educator, a commitment to both undergraduate and graduate teaching, and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and mentoring.
