West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Educational Foundations and Policy Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position beginning spring 2018 at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Social and Cultural Foundations of Education.
Primary responsibilities will be teaching undergraduate courses such as Democracy and Education and/or The Evolution of Schooling in the U.S., as well as various graduate courses within the Department. Some teaching may be assigned at an off-campus location. We are especially interested in colleagues with experience building and teaching introductory courses to education and the teaching profession.
Earned doctorate in the Foundations of Education or a closely related discipline (ABD considered with firm completion date); a record of (or demonstrated potential for) academic scholarship; evidence of strong classroom teaching and communication skills; and a commitment to teacher education.
Teaching experience at the undergraduate level within a public university setting is preferred as well as experience building and teaching introductory courses to education and the teaching profession. A background in one or more of the following disciplines: research methods, higher education, and/or assessment – would also be beneficial.
