Blackburn College, a liberal-arts college, with a unique, nationally recognized student-managed work program invites applications for a tenure-track, and possible Department Chair, position in Teacher Education beginning Fall 2018. This position carries the rank of professor, with the option of applying for tenure in the second year for senior tenured faculty. The Education Department offers programs leading to licensure in 11 areas and is collectively the third largest program on campus. We offer an opportunity for a creative generalist to teach a broad range of teacher preparation courses, with a likely focus on middle grades and secondary schools. Successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching, be adaptable and flexible, and be adept in the use of instructional technology. An understanding of state requirements for licensure in Illinois and the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards is beneficial.

Required qualifications include Ph.D or Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction, or another closely related field, demonstrated excellence in college teaching, and a minimum of four years teaching experience in the K-12 setting. Blackburn College will carefully consider applicants with all levels of experience. Candidates interested in serving as department chair are particularly encouraged to apply.
