The Department of Education is pleased to announce an opening for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the area of Early Childhood Education to start September 1, 2019. Within the context of the University Mission, Salve’s Teacher Education Programs develop in students a desire to seek wisdom and to promote universal justice. Preference will be given to applicants who possess a Ph.D./Ed.D. in Early Childhood Education and/or Curriculum and Instruction. Candidates should demonstrate effective experience in Supervision, teaching PreK-3, and a commitment to culturally responsive teaching. The successful candidate will teach courses in curriculum methods (math, science, social studies, etc), participate in relevant clinical field experiences, and collaborate with department faculty. The successful candidate will develop a strong research program that involves undergraduate students.
The successful candidate must have an earned Ph.D./Ed.D., preferably in the area of Early Childhood Education (PreK-3) and/or Curriculum and Instruction, and teaching experience in a Pre-K-3 setting.
Candidates must be strongly committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring, and developing a program of independent research that includes mentoring students engaged in undergraduate research.
The ability to communicate effectively in speaking and writing, to use technology in teaching and learning, and to work collaboratively is essential.
Knowledge of the accreditation process in teacher education is a benefit.
