The University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank specializing in Curriculum & Instruction starting Fall 2019. This faculty member is embedded within the school of education, and he/she may teach both undergraduate and online graduate classes. We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated expertise in (a) classroom teaching, (b) teaching online courses, (c) working in local area schools, and (d) writing and working on grants. This is a full-time tenure-track position with a nine-month academic year appointment in the School of Education within the College of Education and Psychology at the University of Texas at Tyler. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is contingent upon funding by the university.
Responsibilities for the position include (a) teaching graduate curriculum and instruction courses, (b) teaching undergraduate education courses (c) advising and mentoring students, (d) pursuing an active scholarly research agenda, (e) actively supporting local schools, (f) seeking grant funds for research and teaching activities, and (g) contributing to the university, the East Texas community, and the profession through service and outreach activities.
Required qualifications for the position include (a) an earned a doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction or similar, (b) evidence of university teaching and research activity appropriate for an assistant professor, and (c) a philosophical stance that values diversity and has a commitment to social justice. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in (a) teaching both face-to-face and online classes, (b) demonstrated ability to conduct a focused and sustained program of research and scholarship, and (c) a commitment to diversity and social justice.
