The School of Education (SOE) in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenure-line faculty position in Educational Leadership, Organizations and Policy at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with a start date of August 16, 2019, with a preference for hiring at the level of Associate or advanced Assistant.

We seek a dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic colleague who will collaborate with current faculty leadership in the SOEs program for preparing scholar-practitioner, equity-centered P-12 systems-level leaders (e.g. superintendents, administrators in district central offices, area education agency administrators). In addition to providing program leadership, we seek a colleague who will engage in scholarly research, serve on master’s and doctoral committees, and teach courses in one’s area of specialization in SOE graduate programs that serve students studying education in P-20 and informal learning environments.

Though we are open to area of research specialization and methodological approach, we are particularly interested in equity-centered scholars who have a line of inquiry focused on one or more of the following: (a) systems-level organization and policy (b) race and ethnicity; (c) cultural and linguistic diversity; (d) gender and sexuality; (e) systems-level leadership preparation.

Required Qualifications:
For the rank of Assistant Professor, the successful candidate will possess:
(a) An earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational Policy or a closely related field by the start date (August, 16, 2019).
(b) completion of an educational leadership preparation program leading to licensure/certification (in any state).
(c) post-licensure/certification leadership experience in P-12 educational settings
(d) evidence of potential to develop an active research agenda, establish a strong publication record, and secure external funding commensurate with rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at Iowa State University.
(e) evidence of a commitment in research and professional practice to equity in education.

For the rank of Associate Professor, in addition to the above, a successful candidate must meet university standards for appointment to the rank including:
(a) Active research agenda.
(b) Strong publication record.
(c) Evidence of an ability to secure external funding.

Preferred Qualifications:
For the rank of Assistant Professor, preferred qualifications include:
(a) Experience working in/with the preparation of systems-level leaders.
(b) Evidence of success teaching at the post-secondary level.
(c) Evidence of the potential for a sustained scholarly focus on equity in education.

For the rank of Associate Professor, in addition to the above, preferred qualifications include:
(a) Evidence of an ability to advise and mentor masters and doctoral students.
(b) Evidence of a sustained scholarly focus on equity in education.
(c) Emerging as a leading scholar in areas of research expertise.
