Highland Community College, located in northwest Illinois, is seeking to fill an opening for a full-time tenure-track instructor in co-requisite writing and integrated reading and writing courses beginning the Spring 2019 semester. This position will teach 15 contact hours or more each week (fall and spring semesters) and fulfill other duties included in a full-time faculty position. Highland Community College seeks applicants who are experienced in and enthusiastic about teaching developmental and college-level composition and reading at a community college. Master’s degree in English required. Additionally, 15 + graduate hours in Reading required, but if not in place at time of hire, must be obtained by time of tenure. Candidates with a Master’s degree in English emphasizing writing and a Master’s degree in Reading preferred. Successful teaching experience at post-secondary preferred; community college experience ideal. Knowledge of current developmental reading and writing instructional strategies, techniques and theories, particularly strategies for acceleration expected. Demonstrated ability to connect and build collaborative relationships in a college community required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Experience with curriculum development and alternative delivery modes preferred.
