The Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations at the University of Iowa invites applications for a 9-month, tenure track-faculty position (open rank) in our APA-accredited counseling psychology program, to begin August 19, 2020.
We are seeking an individual with broad interests and experiences in the field of professional psychology with area of research open. The successful candidate will advise counseling psychology doctoral students, engage in scholarly research, seek external funding, and teach graduate-level courses.
The preferred candidate will have a strong commitment to a scientist-practitioner philosophy with a systems based perspective, and a program of research related to the investigation and/or implementation of best practice services to clients from diverse backgrounds. Our APA accredited program emphasizes social justice initiatives and community engagement opportunities for our students.
Prospective candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in counseling, clinical, or school psychology from an APA-accredited program.
(1) Established record or evidence of strong potential in scholarship relevant to applied psychology, with specific areas of expertise open, (2) Ability to work collaboratively and with diverse populations,
(3) Ability to teach, advise, and mentor graduate students in research and practice, (4) Licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Iowa.
(1) Established record of obtaining external funding, and (2) interest in undergraduate training and program development.
Major responsibilities include: conduct an active, funded program of research and scholarship; teach undergraduate and graduate level courses consistent with program and departmental needs; advise and mentor graduate students in the counseling psychology program; and provide program, department, college, and professional service. The successful candidate will work in full collaboration with faculty members in counseling psychology to consider new initiatives within the college and university.
